Sunday Worship: 9am Traditional, 11:11am Casual

About Us

Trinity Church was founded in 1888 in downtown New Albany, Indiana, as part of the Methodist Episcopal Church.  In 1952, the church purchased land on the outskirts of town at 2796 Charlestown Road.  The fellowship hall was completed in 1954, along with a small education wing, and served as the gathering place for worship until 1974.  With the merger of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968, Trinity became part of the United Methodist Church.  In 1974, construction on the new sanctuary was complete and we continue to worship in that space today.  In 1996, construction was complete on another educational wing with a gym and kitchen.  We presently have 360 members with approximately 200 worshipping on Sunday mornings at one of our two services and another 100 joining us online through livestreaming.

WHO WE ARE

Trinity Church is a multi-generational community of faith committed to seeking God, growing together, and supporting one another on this journey called life.  While we are part of the United Methodist Church, our faith family is made up of people from all faith backgrounds and traditions: Methodist, Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Episcopal, Presbyterian, Church of Christ, non-denominational, and no faith background at all.  Our faith is rooted in Wesleyan Theology whose core foundation is grace.  Grace is defined as unmerited favor and we believe that God has initiated a relationship with us extending undeserved grace.  We need only receive that grace and in turn, we extend grace to others.  If you could use a little grace, come discover more about Trinity Church… you belong here!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

At its core, Christianity is a relationship with God, who is the initiator of our faith reaching out to us in love offering forgiveness of sins, abundant life now, and eternal life in the future made possible through faith in Jesus Christ.  This relationship is not based on what we must do, but rather is dependent upon what Jesus Christ has done.  We believe in one God existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  We call this the Trinity.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the savior and hope of the world and that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and the only path to God is through faith in Jesus.  We believe that Jesus was an actual person; conceived of the Virgin Mary, born as a baby, lived a sinless life as both fully God and fully man, willingly died on the cross for our sins, was buried in a borrowed tomb, was resurrected from the dead on the third day, appeared to as many as 500 disciples, and ascended into heaven returning to the Father.  We believe Jesus will come again.  We believe the Bible is the infallible Living Word of God containing all that is necessary for salvation and instruction on how we should live our lives.  We believe that Jesus established his Church and commanded believers to live in community seeking to grow in their knowledge and love of God, as well as invite others into this community we continue to call the Church.  We invite you to come to Trinity Church to become a part of our local community… you belong here!
